This summer, the coastal team welcomes two seasonal staff members to support ongoing conservation for shorebirds and waterbirds.
Joining Walker Golder and Lindsay Addison, the team will monitor nesting sites, conduct research and protect critical habitats our birds need to thrive.
Marlene Eader returns as volunteer coordinator for a fourth year coordinating the volunteer bird stewards at the south end of Wrightsville Beach. She’ll organize field trips and coordinate communication with local officials.
Jen Carman is our seasonal biological technician. Jen will monitor nesting birds, including Least Terns and American Oystercatchers, on Lea-Hutaff Island, conduct shorebird surveys at four local inlets to document migrating shorebird including the Piping Plover, and assist with other fieldwork such as bird banding as needed.
Please help us welcome Marlene and Jen!
