Have you ever watched a pelican do the "gular flutter?" No, it's not the latest dance craze. It's how pelicans and other birds cool themselves—by flapping the pouch of skin under their beaks. Get an up-close look at Brown Pelicans fluttering their gulars, as well as large colonies of White Ibis and Royal Terns, at Audubon's Lower Cape Fear River nesting sanctuaries.
