2024 Advocacy Day

Complete these steps now to confirm your participation in Audubon North Carolina 2024 Advocacy Day on Wednesday, May 22.

Thank you for joining the flock at Audubon North Carolina’s 2024 Advocacy Day on May 22! Everyone in the Mountain region will meet with lawmakers on Zoom on May 22; everyone in the Piedmont, Sandhills, and Coastal Plain will meet with lawmakers in person in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 22. 

Please complete these steps now to confirm your participation in Advocacy Day. 

1. If this is your first time participating in Advocacy Day with Audubon, register for our First-Timers Webinar on April 29 at 7pm. Optional for experienced advocates. 

2. Register for our REQUIRED Advocacy Day Prep Webinar on May 6 at 7pm. We will cover tips and tricks for meeting with lawmakers, logistics for the big day, and the top line messages of our three priority issues—Wetlands, Conservation Trust Funds, and Heirs Property. 

3. Register for your local delegation prep meeting organized by your local advocacy leader sometime between May 7-20. Local Advocacy Day leaders are scheduling these meetings now. We'll post registration links below and send you a notification when the meetings are scheduled.  

PIEDMONT 

  • Wake, Johnston, Franklin counties led by Anne Wilkinson. Local prep meeting: Monday May 13, 7 pm, online via zoom. Register here.
  • Mecklenburg County and UNC Charlotte Audubon led by Manisha Desai and Joe Amodeo. Sunday, May 19, virtual 2-3 pm. Register here. 
  • Forsyth, Stokes, Yadkin counties led by Kim Richmond. Local prep meeting: Monday May 13, 6:30pm at Reynolda Gardens, 100 Reynolda Vlg Wy, Winston-Salem. Meet in the parking area near Lake Catherine, bring along your own lawn chair. Register here.
  • Guilford, Alamance counties led by Ben Graham. Local prep meeting: Wednesday, May 15, 7pm, online via Zoom. Register here.
  • Chatham, Durham, Orange counties led by Allen Kindman. Local prep meeting: Tuesday, May 7, 7pm, online via Zoom. Register here.

MOUNTAINS 

  • Macon, Jackson, Transylvania counties led by Mary Freudenberg. Local prep meeting: TBD
  • Buncombe, Henderson counties led by John Koon. Local prep meeting: Monday, May 13, virtual, from 7 - 8 pm. Register here.

4. Meet with lawmakers on Advocacy Day: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Raleigh (residents of the Piedmont, Sandhills, and Coastal Plain regions) or on Zoom (residents of the Mountain region). Keep your calendar open from 8 to 5 on May 22 because lawmakers often don't commit to meeting times until the week of Advocacy Day.
