A Chapter, a school and the Amphibolites IBA

The

High Country Audubon Society based in northwestern North Carolina has partnered with Appalachian State University and Cove Creek Elementary School to provide bird programs and field trip experiences for the school's studentsl.  Recently Doris Ratchford and High Country Audubon president Anita Clemmer took students on a field trip around the grounds of the school to see what birds use the property.

Cove Creek Elementary sits on the flanks of Rich Mountain, just west of Boone, North Carolina.  Rich Mountain is an Amphibolite peak and the school is located within our featured IBA for February - the Amphibolite Mountains.
