U.S. Forest Service wants your feedback on trails

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking input from the public to develop a trail strategy for the Pisgah and Nantahala national forests in North Carolina. The Smoky Mountain News reports that "Any hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders are encouraged to participate by offering their thoughts and views about the trails" through several public meetings in January. Nantahala National Forest is part of the Nantahala Mountains Important Bird Area, an excellent site for mid to high elevation birds and probably one of the most important nesting areas for Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers in the Southern Appalachians.
