Caring for nature, birds and our planet has no bounds. In this spirit, Audubon North Carolina is expanding our reach to include working with communities of faith across our state. There is so much to do that it makes perfect sense to work with people who have the same passion and energy for the natural world that we do. The shared values of preservation of our natural resources and reverence for all of life make us natural partners.
Audubon is excited about this partnership because we will inspire even more people to discover the fascinating world of birds and their role in the preservation of all creation. Some of the things congregants will learn includes what native plants are bird-friendly, how to help protect Important Bird Areas, and how to help birds we are particularly concerned about like the Brown-headed Nuthatch.
Our first partnerships in the faith community include North Carolina Interfaith Power and Light (NCIPL) and the Creation Care Alliance of Western North Carolina. NCIPL’s programs reach 17 denominations with 1.5 million congregants across the state. The Creation Care Alliance works with several congregations specifically in the western areas of the state.
