What are Important Bird Areas?
Audubon North Carolina offers the Important Bird Areas of North Carolina as a contribution toward the collaborative efforts necessary to preserve the natural resources of the state. With nearly 100 sites identified as being crucial to our state's approximately 400 species of breeding, feeding, migrating, and wintering birds, we are now poised to launch the exciting conservation phase of this visionary program.Chris Canfield, Audubon North Carolina (2005 IBA Report)
