Internship Ends with Pre-school Program

Julia with some of her young naturalists from Valle Crucis School

I want to say a huge thank you to our Watauga High School intern Julia Roberts for all of her help this year.  From entering banding data, to measuring big trees, to working on our Nicaragua eBird filter, to a host of other things, Julia has been great!  Her end of year project was a program to counteract Nature Deficit Disorder by working preschoolers at Valle Crucis Elementary School.  She produced a great booklet for the teachers, and spent time working on projects with the kids that even included a birding day in the park.  We saw some cool birds, but the highlight I am sure for the kids was the big snapping turtle we saw at the start of our walk!  Thanks again Julia for all of your help.

Kids ask the best questions! The next wave of birders! We had a great day watching birds.
