A graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a B.S. in Marine Biology, Nicole has five years of experience as a professional biologist conducting fieldwork in North Carolina. After completing her academic training at UNC-W, Nicole worked with the North Carolina Coastal Federation on ecological restoration projects and assisting developers with environmental compliance. She came to Audubon North Carolina as a biological technician in 2005 when she monitored a bird sanctuary on Lea-Hutaff Island. She then worked as a project scientist with a local consulting firm. In early 2008, Nicole returned to the Audubon North Carolina office in Wilmington, where she monitors waterbird and shorebird sanctuaries on Lea-Hutaff Island as part of ongoing productivity studies. She also conducts weekly shorebird surveys during spring/fall migration, and endangered species surveys for seabeach amaranth. A piano/violin instructor, Nicole lives in Wilmington with her husband.
