Conserving Birds and their Habitats in your Adopted IBA
.
The conservation work of protecting birds and their habitats is Audubon’s primary mission. This conservation takes many forms - from coastal sanctuaries managed by Audubon North Carolina, to advocating for your IBA to mitigate threats, to working for land protection or management. Often the first step in this conservation process is understanding what the threats to the IBA are and who are the potential partners already at work in your IBA. By filling in and sending the Conservation Worksheet, you can help jump start this process. As a local, interested party, you already know a lot about your area and your adopted IBA. Try to include as many potential partners as possible, even some non-traditional ones. The best successes often come from creative collaborations between groups or individuals who have not worked together before. You can email your completed form to Curtis Smalling, Important Bird Areas Coordinator for Audubon North Carolina. The information you provide will be kept confidential, and will help staff in working with you to protect the birds and their habitats in your IBA.
